This collection contains details on British Officers taken as prisoners of war during The Great War. Information listed in these records may include: name, date missing, date interned, date repatriated, rank, regiment/corps, battalion and additional notes.

The original source material printed in 1919 for private circulation was compiled from records kept by military bankers, Messrs Cox & Co.'s Enquiry Office, which opened in September 1914 in Craig's Court, Charing Cross and gained full support of the War Office. At the outset, the aim was to give advice and information to relatives regarding wounded officers with the British Expeditionary Force. A system was also built up of obtaining all available information regarding officers reported 'Missing', and this gradually came to be the principal work of the enquiry office.
