Atlantic and Gulf Ports, Passenger List Card Index, 1820-1870
1,023,457 գրառումները
An incomplete alphabetical card index to passenger lists of vessels arriving at various Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports (excluding New York), from 1820 to 1874. The card index also includes records from an 8-volume series of transcripts that includes names of passengers arriving at Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports from 1819 to 1832. This index is NARA microfilm publication M334. Information listed includes arrival year, ship name, name of passenger, age, and origin information. Origin may refer to the passenger's nationality, birthplace, or last residence. Information can be confirmed by viewing the image of the index card. Additional information such as the passenger's occupation, destination, port of arrival, and names of other individuals travelling with them, may also be found on the index card image.

This card index was originally created by the Works Projects Administration (WPA) between 1935 and 1937 and microfilmed in the 1960s. Information available on the index cards will vary according to what was written on the original passenger manifests. On some cards the names of individuals (family members) accompanying the passenger were written on the reverse (back side) of the card. Because the card index contains a separate card for each person, NARA did not microfilm the reverse side of the cards.
This collection is part of the United States Passenger and Immigration Records Collection.
