This collection contains death and burial records from England and Wales who were not members of the Church of England, between the years 1665 and 1837. Records typically include the name of the deceased, date of birth, place of residence, date and place of death, and date of burial. John Wesley was an English cleric and theologian and the principal founder of the Methodist movement. As a priest in the Church of England, he played a significant role in the 18th-century evangelical revival in Britain. Wesley organized Methodist societies, class meetings, and preaching circuits, which formed the institutional basis of Methodism as a distinct religious movement. He was also a prolific writer, publishing sermons, theological works, and hymns, and his ideas had a lasting impact on Protestant Christianity and religious organization.
